Johannes Brahms
(1833-1897)
Piano Quintet, Opus 34
The genesis of this work was complicated. Conceived in 1862 as a string quintet (2 violins, 1 viola, 2 cellos), it will be written again the following year as a sonata for 2 pianos (Opus 34 b), before being published under its final form in 1865. |
