George Frideric Handel
(1685-1759)
Ariodante, Opera
In 1735, year of the composition of Ariodante, Handel comes up against a growing weariness of the Londoners. Gone from the King’s Theatre to set up to Covent Garden, he has difficulty in having great voices available for his performances. The public loss of affection will be such that from 1737 Handel will progressively turn away from the opera. |
