Johann Sebastian Bach / Sacred Music ( I )

filet

Except the opera, J. S. Bach took up
all the musical styles and he excelled
in each of them.
The cantor function, that he fulfilled
in Leipzig from 1723 to 1750,
gave him the responsibility
of composing for the religious office.
The half of these works reached us
200 religious cantatas, 3 oratorios,
2 passions and 5 masses.

Cantata “Selig ist der Mann”, BWV 57

Cantata “Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben”, BWV 147

Cantata “Vergnügte Ruh, Beliebte Seelenlust”, BWV 170
