Johannes Brahms
(1833-1897)
String Quartet Opus 51 No. 2
Less successful than his Quintets and his Sextets, the String Quartets were for Brahms a difficult enterprise. After many unfruitful attempts, he reached at last the goal that he had fixed to himself 20 years before by composing 2 Quartets during the Summer of 1873. |
