Arcangelo Corelli
(1653-1713)
Christmas Concerto, Opus 6 No. 8
In 1714, Corelli had his 6th and last opus published in Amsterdam at Estienne Roger’s, just like Vivaldi had his opus 3 published three years before. It appears to be 12 Concerti Grossi, with a Concertino for 2 violins and a cello, accompanied with a ripieno (two parts of violin, a part of viola and a part of bass). This 8th Concerto, the most famous, comprises 6 movements. |
