Pyotr Ilyich Tchaïkovsky
(1840-1893)
Violin Concerto, Opus 35
The Violin Concerto that Tchaïkovsky composed in 1878 was at first refused by virtuoso violinists, before being booed at its creation, on December 4th, 1881. May be because of the strong contrast between the orchestral tutti which alternate with the perillous acrobatics of the single Violin, and the violent flights scanned by the orchestra which come before long and sweet melodies. More fantastic than romantic. |
