Jean-Marie Leclair
(1697-1764)

Sonata for 2 Violins, Opus 12 No. 4

Published about 1748, the Opus 12 by Jean-Marie Leclair the Elder is composed of 12 Duets for Violins without accompanying continuous bass. The relief is Italian, as the result of the influence of Corelli, Locatelli and Tartini (the use of the longer bow), but the invention is quite French, inherited with dignity from Couperin.
