Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756-1791)

Cosi fan tutte, Act I - Scene 12

Cosi fan tutte does not have the rebellious spirit of the Nozze di Figaro nor has it the nobility of soul of the Magic Flute, and its theme of the bet on faithfulness seems really thoughtless in comparison with the revolutionary context of the time (end of 1789). It matters little, anyway its profusion of melodic inventions puts him among the most seducing.
