The Magic Flute, a fairytale which opposes Good and Evil, represents an initiation ceremony in the Freemasonry. The Queen of the Night, at first presented as a inconsolable mother, turns out to be an Evil made woman and unleashes her hatred in this very famous air. The first performance took place on September 30th, 1791, hardly 2 months before Mozart’s death. |
