Between 1806 and 1815, Donizetti had the chance to attend classes taught by Mayr in Bergamo. Donizetti would meld this heritage of German chamber music with his own Italian culture. His 17th and second-to-last String Quartet, composed in 1825, is a brilliant illustration.
