Joseph Haydn
(1732-1809)
String Quartet Opus 33 No. 3 “The Bird”
Without the slightest consultation, Haydn shares with Boccherini the title of inventor of the string quartet (2 violins, 1 viola and 1 cello). He will compose 68 of those, from 1760 to 1803. The six Quartets of the Opus 33 were composed in 1781. |
