Antonio Vivaldi
(1678-1741)
Concerto for 4 violins, Opus 3 No. 2, RV 578
In 1711, Vivaldi composed L’Estro Armonico, “Harmonic Invention”, his 3rd opus, but above all his first volume of 12 concertos for 1, 2 or 4 violins. By choosing to have it published in Amsterdam instead of on his Venitian soils, he transformed this sublime first attempt in European reference. J.S. Bach appreciated them to such an extent, that he transcribed five Concertos of this opus. |
