Antonio Vivaldi
(1678-1741)

Concerto for 4 violins, Opus 3 No. 5, RV 519

If Vivaldi cannot pretend to be the inventor of the Concerto (Torelli composed a volume of concertos two years earlier, in 1709), he was the first to establish bases for it and to reveal its charms to the whole of Europe. This magnificent Concerto in 3 movements adopts the classical scheme quick/slow/quick.
