Danksagung an den Bach (Die schöne Müllerin, D 795)
A lieder cycle according to poems by Wilhelm Müller* : a volume of songs which predicted the course of his own life. The main thread is the journey of a miller who follows the brook of his mill/destiny, from hopes to disillusions, up to the eternal rest, when joys and sorrows are one in the ocean. Before “Winterreise” and “Schwanengesang”. *Born in 1794, Müller dies by Septembre 30th, 1827, almost a year before Schubert. |
