Handel composed two volumes of 8 Suites de Pièces pour le Clavecin, respectively published in 1720 and 1733, in London. The 7th and the 11th comprise each a sarabande which use again the theme of ‘la folia’, but of which the less lively pace takes the pace of a solemn march. The Sarabande of the Suite No. 11 is the one that the cinema enthusiasts could appreciate in the sumptuous fresco“Barry Lindon” (1975) by Stanley Kubrick.
