O primavera, SWV 1

Discovered in 1598 by the landgrave Maurice de Hesse as he passed in the Heinrich parents’ inn, Heinrich Schütz will enjoy a miraculous protection which will allow him in 1609 to deepen his musical knowledge close to Giovanni Gabrieli, in Venice. Two years later, he will publish his first work there : The Italian Madrigals, starting a magnificent career which will make him called by his compatriots “the Orpheus of our time”.
