Luigi Boccherini
(1743-1805)
String Quintet, G 338
Boccherini was an illustrious virtuoso of his instrument of predilection: the cello. He invented for himself the String Quintet with 2 Cellos, including this example composed in 1787. As is the case with much of his work, the melody is refined yet powerful, distinguished yet original. His heart did more than just beat; it danced. |
